Subni Overview

Subni is a web service which gives physical objects, places, people and things a presence on the internet by attaching these real-life objects with RFID tags which are mapped to metadata about the tagged object through the web service. Subni allows for interactions to occur in the real world via mobile pocket pc clients.

The interactions Subni provides can supplement the user with both new context and location-aware gestures in the real world.

In addition to this, Subni has a built-in social network so that you can chose to share meta data about tagged objects with your friends or with the entire network.

Subni's universal object definition allows for easy integration with existing web applications, making a wide variety of useful applications available to end users.

Users can also bookmark tags, meaning they can append the object's metadata with new information of their own, which can be shared in an environment resembling a blog, featuring RSS feeds and an 'Internet of Things Explorer' which allows for graphical navigation of your object space.

SoundTag is a feature which synthesizes metadata about objects, and delivers this media as sound icons to the mobile device. This provides visually impaired users with an innovative platform for creating an entirely new genre of interactions with objects and their general environment.

Another major advantage of the web service approach to RFID middleware is that all reads can be recorded centrally. Thus, users can create automated-actions to occur when important tags are read, such as text messages and emails.
